Inquest: T.B. Joshua yet to be served summons, says counsel

Ikeja – Prophet Temitope Joshua, the founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, on Wednesday said he was yet to be “personally served” the witness summons issued by the Lagos State Coroner, Mr Oyetade Komolafe.

Joshua made this known through his counsel, Mr Olalekan Ojo, at the ongoing Coroner’s Inquest into the Sept.12 collapse of a guest house within the church.

The  inquest was set up by the Lagos State Government to investigate the incident which led to the death of 116 persons.

Komolafe had slated Nov.5 for Joshua and the contractor, who handled the project, to appear before the court.

ABUJA — PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo have filed a notice of preliminary objection at a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, asking the court to dismiss the legal action challenging their eligibility to contest the 2015 Presidential election.

The thrust of the objection is that the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the suit filed by Mase Daphine Acho, and two others.

According to the Notice of Preliminary Objection filed by the legal team of the first and second defendants, led by Mr Ade Okeaya-Inneh, SAN, and Dr Fabian Ajogwu SAN, the plaintiffs lacked the requisite standing in law to institute the action.
They also failed to disclose any sufficient interest to warrant a claim in Public or Private Law.

In the particulars of objection, the President’s counsel cited the Supreme Court judgment in 1981 in the

Tambuwal asks Nigerians to elect credible leader in 2015

The Speaker of House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, has called on Nigerians irrespective of their religion or ethnic affinity to ensure that they elect a good leader in 2015 general elections.

2015: The problem with do-or-die politics — Pastor Aina

Journey

The summary of the journey is that God has been faithful. When God calls a man, there are promises and expectations. There are also challenges that will make it seem that the promises and expectations will not come to pass, but in the end, there are always reasons to say God you are faithful.

There were mixed feelings from my family about my intention to be a gospel minister. It was a welcome idea by my mother who said God had told her earlier that I will be His prophet but some other members were not comfortable, especially my siblings, there was one of them who said I should not allow the devil to deceive me; to him, the call to the ministry was a deception.

Challenges

There is the challenge of meeting people with different background, culture and ideology. These are people ready to do anything for you but when you tell them the truth of the gospel, the counsel of God, some of them feel offended. I have met a number of people like that but I find comfort in the word of God that says “have I now become your enemy because I am telling you the truth?” (Galatians 4:16)

Obama plays narrow role in a last campaign

DETROIT — For President Obama, the last and loneliest campaign is about to end.
While Obama's Democrats struggle to keep control of the U.S. Senate — a battle with profound implications for his last two years in office — the president has been relatively absent from the campaign trail.

During a weekend rally at Wayne State University, Obama said he needs Democrats in office to help push an agenda that includes minimum wage hikes, equal pay for women, aid to education and improvements to health care.

"I want you to feel a sense of urgency," Obama told backers, asking them to get out the vote ahead of Tuesday's election.

Democrats who cheered for Obama said they understand the stakes.
